San
Diego Transportation - Driving in San Diego
can sometimes be a major hassle, especially during
rush hour traffic. Parking is also very limited in
the downtown areas. Parking meters and parking lots,
both of which will cost you, fill up quickly. Most
parking meters have a two-hour limit while parking
lots can get a bit pricey, especially during special
events. The majority of major attractions have their
own parking lots, but these too fill up quickly and
sometimes charge a nominal fee.
The best way to get around San Diego
quickly and easily is to use another means of transportation
besides a car. San Diego offers a wide variety of
transportation options and most are reasonably priced.
There are plenty of taxis, shuttles, and buses, but
probably the easiest way to get around is to use the
San Diego Trolley.
It is extremely convenient and has stops at a variety
of prime sightseeing locations, such as the Gaslamp
Quarter, Old Town, and Little Italy, along
with stops at Fashion Valley mall, Petco Park, Qualcomm
Stadium, the Convention Center,
and San Diego State University. The trolley also runs
to San Ysidro, which makes it an easy walk across
the Mexican border into Tijuana. Those are just a
few of the stops. The trolley runs north, south, and
east of downtown making sightseeing easy and inexpensive.
Another option is The Coaster. Although
its stops are limited it is a good means of travel
to avoid the coastal traffic. It runs from San Diego
to Oceanside with about six stops in between, including
Old Town. Fares are minimal and travel times are fast.
Both the Trolley and Coaster have
extended Friday night runs, which make enjoying San
Diego’s nightlife safer and easier.
Limousines are another option. There are a number
of Limousine Services in San Diego
that offer transportation ranging from elegant limos
and stretch SUV’s to town cars and practical
motor coaches. Some have tour packages that include
wine and city tours.
Regardless of the mode of Transportation
getting around San Diego is fairly easy and there’s
ways to do it that will fit anyone’s budget.
